What is happening at 540 North Street?
The Klubertanz Family is excited and honored to introduce ourselves as the new owners of the former Wallenfangs of Green Lake Farm! The history and legacy of this property is not lost on us. We feel a strong sense of responsibility to the Green Lake community and it's visitors to continue to create a special destination where generations of families come together to create lasting memories. While we are anxious to announce and implement our plans for "The Farm at Green Lake", there is still plenty of work ahead!
We are very carefully planning to restore parts of the property keeping historical design a forefront goal! Keep your eyes peeled for the exterior changes while you walk, cycle and drive by. As well, follow us on social media for pictures and videos of our interior remodeling journey!

The Farm's History
The property located at 540 North Street in Green Lake Wisconsin holds a rich 166-year history as a foundational agricultural site and a long-standing local commercial legacy. Known historically as the Thrasher Farm and commercially as Wallenfangs of Green Lake, this 23.8-acre property blends classic Mid-19th-century architecture with active community retail.
Historic Thrasher Farm Era (1860’s – Mid-1900’s)

1860’s Construction (estimated): The main residence was built right before the Civil War in the classic National Folk/Farmhouse architectural style.

Farmhouse Infrastructure: The property initially served as a traditional Wisconsin homestead, featuring a 2,921-square-foot main house anchored by stone and metal construction, original hardwood floors, and four distinct outbuildings meant for livestock and crop storage.

Abandonment: By the mid-20th century, the original agricultural operations ceased, and the Thrasher farmstead sat abandoned for decades.
The Wallenfang Era (1974 – 2026)

1974 Purchase: Local teachers, Nolan and Carletta Wallenfang, purchased the 23.8 acre abondoned Thrasher Farm.

The Restoration: Alongside local carpenter Arnold Alvin, the family lovingly restored the dilapidated farmhouse while converting one of the agricultural structures into a retail building. Several other outbuildings were restored and/or built during this time as well.

June 15, 1975: Nolan and Carletta established and opened Wallenfangs of Green Lake. This multi-shop destination offered neighbors and tourists local Wisconsin cheeses, specialty jams, "baby rice" popcorn, premium ice cream, fine art, antiques, and a gallery of custom wood furnishings. Wallenfangs of Green Lake was truly a cherished destination who's legacy will be historic!
The Klubertanz Era (2026 – Present)

June 5, 2026 Purchase: Entrepreneurs Tanya and Michael Klubertanz purchase the historic farm from the Wallenfang Family.

The Klubertanz Family intends to honor and cherish the rich history of the property, mindfully restore and update it's corridors and resurrect the property as a community cornerstone where family and friends gather to make lasting memories.

We truly believe that angels guided us to this unexpected gem! We are grateful the stars aligned and that the Wallenfang Family has selected us as the next steward's of this special property!
Our Story
Howdy Green Lake Neighbors! We hope to meet y'all soon! Until then, we wanted to take the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the community.
We were both born and raised in Sun Prairie Wisconsin, a suburb of Madison. Fun Fact! Though we never crossed paths until college, we attended the same elementary school, middle school and high school.
We have been married for 24 years(together for 32!) and have three children; Nicholas(26), Grace(23) and Madeleine(21). Like many of you, our life to date has been spent prioritizing raising our children, spending time with family and friends while juggling the building of our careers.
Crazy how time flies! But one day we woke up and found ourselves "empty nesters". How does this happen?
As very type "A" personalities, we said "Now What?!" Because we have always dreamed of living on or near a lake we started our search for the next chapter in our journey. We spent summer after summer traveling Wisconsin to check out Wisconsin lakes and their surrounding cities.
Our "Must Haves": clean lake water, a lake we can surf and waterski on, a nearby grocery store, small city atmosphere, within an hour and half drive to Madison and a friendly community!
THEN....We Found It....Green Lake! After the first visit over 3 years ago, we just knew this was it. It checked all the boxes. While out exploring the city one day over 2 years ago now, we turned right off of Mill Street onto North Street and we saw the most enchanting property we have ever seen, right in the heart of town and right down the road from the lake! It was love at first site! From that day on, our creative juices have been on overdrive!
With a background in engineering, remodeling and construction, a passion for interior design and business ownership and love of old homes and their architecture, we just knew the Wallenfang Farm could be a great fit for us and our growing family.
So, Here We are Green Lake!
